Tax bills for each year are mailed in October and are due upon receipt. January 31st of each year is the last day to pay without penalty or interest. The taxes become delinquent on February 1st of each year and are subject to penalty and interest. If January 31st falls on a weekend, payment is considered timely if it is made on the next business day. Payments made by mail need to be post marked January 31st or prior.

Taxpayers with an over-65 or a disabled person exemption can pay current taxes in four installments without penalty or interest. The taxpayer must request quarterly payments in writing by January 31st. The payment schedule is as follows:

Penalty reaches a 12% maximum and interest will increase 1% each month.

April 1st- Additional 20% attorney fees are added to any unpaid balance on business personal property and to personal property accounts (mobile homes).

The Tax-Assessor Collector is restricted from waiving or deferring penalty and interest on a delinquent property tax. Penalty and interest fees resulting from failure to timely pay a property tax are statutory.
